Finding Your Path ... Your Journey Into Spiritual Health
Two date available: October 13-15 and October 16-18.
This retreat will begin a journey in Christian spirituality. You will learn about a long tradition of intentional Christian disciplines to help you on this journey. The retreat will provide time to share what the “spiritual journey” is and why intentionality is important in your spiritual health. It will offer you the basic tools for beginning your own unique journey and identifying your own unique spiritual gifts. The true path and purpose of your life will take on new meaning as your relationship with God, through Christ, becomes healthier. You will also experience and be led in practicing various spiritual disciplines, taking time to developing these skills. One goal of this retreat is for you to learn and then practice using spiritual disciplines while under the direction of accomplished spiritual directors.

Great Communion - Oct. 4th
2009 is the 200th anniversary of our call for Christian unity. In his "Declaration and Address" (written in 1809), Thomas Campbell said that the Church in the whole world is united...it is One. 100 years ago, our ancestors celebrated Campbell's call for unity with a Great Communion service. Our dream is that on Sunday, October 4, 2009, congregations all across the United States...and all around the world...will meet together and celebrate Communion and remember our common heritage.
Several years ago the Board of Trustees of Disciples of Christ Historical Society looked toward 2009 and realized that we did not want to miss the opportunity to mark the bicentennial of Thomas Campbell’s “Declaration and Address.” While there are other events and documents that we have also remembered, everyone agreed that this 1809 document truly formed the constitution for our movement. Its thesis is “the church of Christ upon earth is essentially, intentionally, and constitutionally one.” It is the clarion call for unity that has been the hallmark of the Stone-Campbell movement.

2009 General Assembly Will Explore Wholeness for All
Disciples from all walks of life will gather in Indianapolis from Wednesday, July 29 to Sunday, August 2, 2009 for the church’s biennial Assembly. Attendees will come from across the United States and Canada – and in many cases from around the world – to worship, learn, fellowship and discuss the future of our Church.
The 2009 General Assembly of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) will center its work around Revelation 22:2 …“And the leaves of the trees shall be for the healing of the nations.” In choosing this verse as the centerpiece and guiding scriptural reference, organizers seek to complement the Disciples’ new identity statement (We are Disciples of Christ, a movement for wholeness in a fragmented world) with a theme of relevance, energy, conviction – and healing.

Clergy Spritual Retreat - April 21 - 23
Rev. Herb Lynskey, CPA Minister, will lead retreat Disciples Conference Center, Gonzales, Texas from Tuesday, April 21, 1:00 pm to Thursday, April 23, 11:00 am.
Throughout Lent and Easter we, as clergy, have burned the holy candle of leadership and service at both ends. We are called to retreat, to take time to catch our breath, be with one another, and allow ourselves to be as open to the movement and power of the Spirit as we have invited our people to be. Let us gather to rest and to consider, in these trying times we find ourselves in the world, is there a time to be quiet and listen and is there a time to be bold, courageous and speak out.
